Stakeholders Meet Over Insecurity In Varsities

The National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency(NDLEA) Ogun State Command, has condemned the recent involvement of minors to transport hard drugs in the communities in the state.

 

The state Commander of Narcotics Ibiba – Odili, described drug trafficking as a global phenomenal not exclusive of any jurisdiction, race or tribe, recalled that operatives of the command had carried out operations, where parents who engaged in drug trafficking and peddling took to their heels and the illicit drugs were found in possession of their wards, who had been integrated into the illicit trade.

 

She implored the media to nip drug trafficking and its inherent dangers in the bud as a collective responsibility. In another development, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, identified mistrust, drug abuse among youths, and the police, tertiary institutions heads, and host communities working at cross purposes, as some of the challenges.

 

He assured critical stakeholders of the command’s resolve to strengthen security architecture in and around schools in Ogun State in order to restore confidence in the people.

 

The maiden edition of the strategic security meeting held at the instance of the state police commissioner, was well-attended by heads of tertiary institutions, members of the host communities, traditional rulers, student leaders, and senior police officers.
