Shock in Abeokuta as Human Parts Found in Fake Churches, Police Arrest Three

The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered a chilling crime scene involving human body parts hidden inside buildings posing as Cherubim and Seraphim Church parishes in Kobape town and along Abiola Way, Abeokuta.

Three suspects, Sunday Akintobi (36), Oladimeji Olaniran (40), and Isaiah Tijani (38), were arrested on April 22, 2025, by SWAT operatives following a tip-off. The police say the men were caught with suspected human remains, including bones and other body parts, found in the fake church buildings.

According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the suspects are believed to be involved in a human parts trade. The buildings were cleverly disguised as places of worship to avoid suspicion.

The state Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has ordered a thorough investigation and forensic tests based on the suspects’ confessions. He also warned residents against shielding criminals and urged the public to report any suspicious activity.

In a strong message to families, the police advised securing graveyards to help curb the growing menace of grave robbing and ritual killings in the state.
