The upheaval going on in the Nigeria police academy, kano between Dr. Goddy Igbaekemen and the administration had taken another dimension.

The duo refused to sort the issues amicably as the lecturer could not bear the dishonesty of the institution against his traits.

Dr. Goddy Igbaekemen a lecturer in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State, accused the authority of the institution of refusing to promote and pay his necessary arrears since his reinstatement.

In a letter address to the Chairman PSC, Salvo correspondent gathered that, Dr. Goddy, described Assistant Commissioner of Police, Sunday Digha’s statement as unprofessional.

Goddy added that ACP Sunday responded to a media report with the PSC logo in the Punch Newspaper Online News, as baseless and mendacious against the PSC and IGP personality, the institution, and the nation’s citizenry.

In the letter addressed to the Chairman Police Service Commission by Goddy, received by Salvo News, he stated that the reaction of ACP Sunday alongside other allegations needs to be grilled by the appropriate authorities.

He mentioned that ACP Sunday is not in PSC but rather a police academy in Kano and that the same officer was on the brief of the Commandant to protect his kinsmen, adding that if the PSC chairman and IGP were either Hausa or Fulani tribes would they have disrespected the said publication in Punch newspaper online.

He also made clear that ACP Sunday’s undue loyalty to the Commandant rather than the Nigeria police force resulted in his unruly behavior, unethical norms, and unbecoming of a police officer of his cedar.

Among the concerns are that there are primordial sentiments and surreptitious manipulations in the order of the day in the academy in the areas of converting the Tetfund building to a hotel, closure of the Commandant market and academy laundry, cadet’s poor academic performance as a result of missing classes and semester examinations, the violation to NUC extant rules on lectures hours, embezzlement of academic staff earned allowance arrears runs billions of naira, intimidation, and harassment all these are detrimental to the academy as a police university.

It was confirmed that in a related development, a letter dated 11th July 2023 Signed by ACP Coker Shada of the Police acknowledged the issue of the Tetfund building converted to a hotel in the academy and the ACP as a property manager.

ACP Coker of the Nigeria Police Academy was also alleged to have benefited from returning the Tetfund building to Commandant’s kinsmen as a hotel.

Once again, It was gathered that DIG Zana Ibrahim MNI (rtd) recovered this same building in 2019 from Commandant’s kinsmen as a hotel because the purpose of the Tetfund building was crushed.

Dr. Goddy Igbekemen calls upon the authorities especially the Police Service Commission (PSC ) and the IGP Egbetokun Olukayode Adeolu, Phd, npm, to swift into action and scrutinize the position of the commandant as an indigene of Kano State very seriously and act accordingly, because police academy is not a religion or ethnic based institution for some dubious person’s amelioration.
