Makinde’s spokesperson, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, has made known in a statement on Monday where he also spoke about the governor’s plan for more developments in Oyo. The governor of Oyo, Seyi Makinde, said he has mapped out plans to diversify the state economy while his administration has taken security initiatives to the grassroots.

“Over the past four years, the number of enterprises within the state has grown to 1,872,941 with the bulk of them in the capital city,” Olanrewaju wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“This is one of the reasons a United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) research ranked Ibadan as the second fastest growing city in Africa, citing industrialisation, urbanisation and economic activities as reasons for the growth.

“The state has also attracted private investments of over N27 billion in agribusiness as well as $65million foreign direct investment.

“Similarly, the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) hovers around N4billion monthly while the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has grown by 50 per cent in four years.

“Obviously, by this latest impetus to diversify the economy of Oyo State, the state will have exponential increase in her revenues,” he stated.

Olanrewaju said that Oyo State has been structurally repositioned economically to increase value by the Makinde government.

He noted that with the latest expansions and rehabilitations on the economy and facilities, more developments are in sight.

Olanrewaju stated that with good roads and an operational airport, the people of Oyo look forward to welcoming visitors, businesses, tourists, investments and trades to the state.

He added that to Makinde, further development of Oyo state will mean fixing the security architecture and arresting concerns to make development thrive.

On this note, the governor has empowered security agencies to enable them secure Oyo while he is spearheading the initiative by being the Head of the Special Task Force established to tackle insecurity in the state.

“Again, governor Makinde has taken the security initiative to the grassroots by enlisting the support and cooperation of traditional leaders,” Olanrewaju stated.

The spokesperson said that the community policing is advanced since locals, community groups and leaders will provide intelligence and vital leads to curb insecurity in Oyo state.

He said there are massive investments in security in Oyo and the improved security has enabled the governor to expand the economy of the state.
