IGP Orders Reinforcement as Security Agencies Move to Restore Order
Amid the escalating violence in Osun State, the Nigeria Police Force has issued a stern warning to those behind the unrest, vowing to bring all perpetrators to justice. The violent clashes have led to the destruction of property and the tragic loss of innocent lives, prompting urgent intervention by security forces.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered the deployment of additional tactical squads to the state to strengthen security and restore normalcy. The police have condemned the violence, emphasizing that such actions threaten democracy and public safety.
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP warned that any act of lawlessness, hooliganism, and anarchy will not be tolerated. Security agencies are working to track down those responsible, ensuring they face the full weight of the law.
The police urged citizens to remain calm and continue their daily activities peacefully, assuring them that the situation is under control. Osun leaders, stakeholders, and residents have been advised to embrace peace, while political actors have been reminded to respect judicial rulings as the final arbiter of electoral disputes.
The Force reiterated its commitment to preventing further breakdown of law and order across the country, stressing that security operatives will closely monitor Osun to ensure lasting peace and stability.
