The sister-in-law of Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo, Florence Akinrinde, has broken her silence following the actress’s public confirmation of her separation from husband Oluseyi Akinrinde.
Biola caused a stir online on Tuesday when what appeared to be a birthday tribute to Oluseyi turned out to be a divorce announcement. In a post shared on Instagram, the actress referred to Oluseyi as “my ex-husband and baby daddy,” revealing that they had parted ways since April 2024 and were committed to co-parenting their son peacefully.
In the emotional post, Biola expressed regret that the marriage did not work out, stating, “It is better to be alive to tell the story.” She also opened up about silently battling pain, despite her public image of cheerfulness.
While Oluseyi has yet to issue a formal response, his elder sister, Florence Akinrinde — a former House of Representatives candidate under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in Ogun State — took to Instagram to defend her brother’s silence and shed light on the situation.
According to Florence, Oluseyi had always desired a peaceful and loving home but was misunderstood. She wrote, “Your open heart, love, and craving to keep your home was misjudged as being too demanding.”
She further revealed that Oluseyi, despite feeling wronged, still sought reconciliation and had considered asking Biola to take down the divorce announcement.
“You still want peace despite being bastardized and crucified wrongly… You were never quick to take revenge. How pure can your heart be?” she wrote.
Florence praised her brother’s calmness and emotional restraint, stating that he foresaw the end of the marriage and had braced himself early. She concluded by apologizing for previously being harsh towards him and assured him of the family’s love and support.
Biola’s announcement and Florence’s response have continued to generate mixed reactions online, with many praising both parties for choosing maturity and peaceful co-parenting in the wake of the marital breakdown.
As of press time, Oluseyi Akinrinde has not made any direct public statement regarding the matter.
