The Comprehensive High School Old Students Association (CHSOSA) has reaffirmed its commitment to revitalizing its alma mater, Comprehensive High School, Igbobini, Ese Odo Local Government, Ondo State.
During a visit on March 14, 2025, led by National President Professor. Stephen Ileoye Aina, the association donated learning materials, assessed infrastructure, and engaged students in career mentorship.
Prof. Aina, received by the Principal, Mr. Okon, emphasized the visit’s purpose: supporting academic activities, guiding students in career choices, and evaluating the school’s facilities. He also introduced a palm tree planting project as a potential revenue source and stressed the need for security to protect school assets. He further urged the administration to discourage examination malpractice, ensuring students earn credible results.
The Principal highlighted key challenges, including inadequate staffing, frequent student absenteeism, the absence of a functional library, and water scarcity due to a failed borehole. He also lamented parental apathy toward students’ education.
During the visit, CHSOSA donated whiteboards, markers, and refillable inks. A career talk session featured Prof. Aina discussing career exploration and purpose, while Mr. Goke Akinbi spoke on essential workplace skills. The session was interactive, with students engaging actively, and the school’s cultural troupe added a lively touch to the event.
An inspection of the school’s facilities exposed significant infrastructural decay, including poorly maintained laboratories, a dilapidated computer room with most systems non-functional, and classrooms with damaged lockers—except those recently donated by Major General Abai. The association noted the urgent need for a functioning library and water supply.
CHSOSA pledged immediate action, with a detailed plan to address these concerns. To tackle student truancy, a monitoring committee will be set up to ensure students remain engaged during school hours.
Speaking on behalf of the association, General Secretary Bowale Ibukunoluwa expressed gratitude to all alumni for their contributions and reaffirmed CHSOSA’s dedication to the school’s growth and excellence.
