The Lagos State Government has enrolled 130,000 vulnerable households for the Federal Government’s ₦75,000 cash transfer initiative by linking their National Identification Numbers (NIN) to the Lagos State Single Social Register.
Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Ope George, announced this during a press briefing in Alausa, Ikeja. He explained that the exercise is part of efforts to update the National Social Register in line with federal directives to include NIN and geo-location data.
George said the process began on April 9, 2025, and covers all 57 local government and council development areas. The update is expected to ease the distribution of relief funds amid economic hardships caused by the fuel subsidy removal and forex crisis.
Out of 688,759 households on the state’s register, 130,000 heads of households have been successfully linked so far. George assured that the state is working to fast-track the inclusion of more households to ensure wider coverage and support.
