Kano residents and loyalists of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNP) have rolled out drums in celebration of the victory of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf at the Supreme Court.
The jubilant youths in their hundreds occupied the metropolis in a joyous mood to celebrate the affirmation of the Governor as duly elected Governor.
Brick displays of tricycle riders and motorcyclists were not in short supply as the youths took dangerous high speed on major roads in celebration.
Incidentally, the apparent tension that shook the Kano metropolis before the Supreme Court declaration suddenly disappeared with youths taking over the entire city, amid heavily armed security men.
Although the police command had warned against the possible breakdown of law and order in the name of celebration and or protest in the aftermath of the much-awaited judgment, the residents may have defied the security officers.
Meanwhile, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has reacted to Friday’s judgement of the Supreme Court which affirmed his election.
Yusuf, who was at the apex court in Abuja to witness the judgement that upturned the concurrent verdicts of the Kano State governorship election tribunal and Appeal Court that declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf Gawuna, as winner of the Kano election, took to his verified X handle to expressed appreciation to God over the latest judgement.
He said : “Alhamdulillah, Alhamdulillah. – AKY”, which in English mean “I thank God, I thank God.”
