The Ikorodu Students Association (ISA) has inaugurated its third set of executives and presented honourary awards.
The ceremony, conducted at the palace of Ayangbure marked the transition from one regime to another, as new executives stepped forward to carry on the association’s legacy.
The event drew prominent individuals, including Mr Mobolaji Ogunlede, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Affairs, who expressed his enthusiasm for engaging with the youth.
Also, Oluwatosin Mabumi, representing the Ikorodu Local Government chairman, Mr. Wasiu Adeshina, commended the students for their dedication and assured them of positive plans for the youth, including bursary support.
“The journey beyond the school walls” delved into critical topics. Prince Adesola Elemuren highlighted the importance of the home as the foundation of a child’s values, emphasizing that a child’s behavior often reflects their upbringing.
Barrister Adeleke Arowoyehun emphasized the value of vocational education alongside formal education, citing successful graduates in vocational fields.
Mr. Samuel Abdulazeez Soyiga shared his journey into politics, even after pursuing a different course, emphasizing the power and allure of politics.
Outgoing members received certificates of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
Notable awardees included Makanjuola Mariam, Balogun Sodiq, Akoloye Oluwatoyin, Abiodun Jubril Kuti, Arogundade Ridwan, Adepoju Mubarak Atebo, and Com. Adejuwon Ismail Olaribigbe.
The event culminated in the introduction of the new executives. Toba Dosunmu assumed the role of President, with Oluwatosin Maggie as Vice President, and Arogundade Ridwanullahi as General Secretary. The oath of office was administered, and certificates of honor were awarded.
Outgoing President Adejuwon Ismaeel Olarigbigbe expressed satisfaction with the transparent voting process.
He praised the incoming President, Toba Dosunmu, for his dedication to the association.
Incoming President Toba Dosunmu outlined his vision for Ikorodu, focusing on social development and cultural advancement. He introduced the Ikorodu Development Goals (IDG) to align with sustainable development objectives, aiming for a brighter future for Ikorodu.
