Farmers in Igbobini, a community in Ese Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State, have raised concerns over a growing security threat posed by a group known as Alagbakadon, allegedly operated by some individuals of Hausa origin.
According to reports, unsuspecting farmers have fallen victim to fraudulent schemes orchestrated by members of this group, who present themselves as laborers. A local resident, identified as Iji, exposed the deceptive practices of Alagbakadon, warning farmers to be cautious when hiring seasonal workers.
Investigations suggest that the group demands hefty fees—ranging from ₦40,000 to ₦50,000—for transport and other expenses, only to later engage in criminal activities. Within weeks of employment, they reportedly begin stealing from their employers before fleeing.
The fraudulent activities are not limited to Igbobini alone, as similar cases have been reported in other areas, with individuals from Taraba and Cross River states also allegedly involved.
Authorities are yet to identify the masterminds behind the scheme, but farmers are urged to remain vigilant and conduct thorough background checks before employing laborers.
Residents call on security agencies to intervene and curb the growing menace before more people fall victim.
