Amidst the current economic hardship, former member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Salihu Lukman has advised leaders of the ruling party not to give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wrong advice in his efforts at solving the challenges facing the country.
His advice was contained in a statement titled: “APC and question of liability, Open Letter to APC Leaders,” in Abuja on Friday.

Lukman, who was a former APC National Vice Chairman (North West), noted that former President Muhammadu Buhari’s failure could be traced to the inability of party leaders to sincerely give patriotic advice on policies.

Lukman maintained that as things are in the country, it is paramount for APC leaders to return to their old mode of acting as visionary politicians and initiate deeply more substantive political reforms in the country to reposition the APC and return it to its founding vision of becoming a progressive political.

According to him: “Given this reality, it is painful to admit that both the APC as a party and the government of President Tinubu are becoming increasingly unpopular with Nigerians.

“No one should be deceived that given the way we are becoming more and more unpopular; we are faced with the risk of rebellion by ordinary Nigerians.”

Admitting that the administration of former President Buhari did not measure up to the expectations of party members and Nigerians in general, he cautioned that the success or failure of the former administration represents the collective success or failure of APC as a party.
