Ajegunle Teen Who Gained Fame for Peter Obi Convoy Stunt in 2023 Reportedly Remanded for Alleged Armed Robbery

In February 2023, a young boy named Yusuf Alabi captured public attention when he stood in front of Peter Obi’s convoy during a campaign rally in Lagos, expressing his admiration for the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

Recent reports have surfaced alleging that a teenager named Alabi Quadri has been in custody since January on charges of armed robbery. Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has raised concerns about Quadri’s detention, noting that despite being a minor, he has appeared before a magistrate multiple times and is being held alongside adult suspects while awaiting legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Efforts to verify if Yusuf Alabi and Alabi Quadri are the same individual have been inconclusive. The similarity in names has led to speculation, but definitive confirmation remains elusive.

This situation has sparked discussions about the treatment of minors within the Nigerian judicial system and the importance of ensuring that the rights of young individuals are upheld, especially when they are involved in legal proceedings.
