Oba Adeposi Munirudeen Bashorun of Oru, Imoru-Ijebu Kingdom in Ijebu Ode Local Government Area of Ogun State, recently, installed the deputy registrar, Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago Iwoye, Adeniyi Adeola Oduwole, as the Kakanfo of Imoru-ljebu.
The installation was performed at Oru-Gbogbo Palace, Imoru-Ijebu where government officials, politicians, community leaders and other relevant stakeholders were in attendance.
Speaking on the occasion, the traditional ruler described Oduwole as an erudite scholar who has distinguished himself in the service of God and humanity, most especially in education sector and community service in the area.
He said Oduwole had been assisting people of the area and impacting them positively in various ways.
“The educationist has helped many students from Imoru-Ijebu community.
“He is always interested in the development of this area. He has been assisting in the growth and development of Imoru-Ijebu community.
“I will encourage him and others we are installing today to do more for the growth and development of our community. Though, they have been performing well, I want them to unite with me in development of Imoru-Ijebu so as to improve the socioeconomic activities of the community.
“I need their services. They are outstanding individuals. So, I need their wealth of experience to bring development to this community,” the traditional ruler said.
On his part, Oduwole said he was happy over the honour bestowed on him and promised to do more to bring development to all the nooks and crannies of the community.
He also promised to continue to render selfless service to the community, most especially in the education sector, adding that education of the youths would also be his priority.
“I feel honoured, recognised and delighted. Today is my happiest day. I am glad for the honour. I thank God for the honour. I thank the traditional ruler of my community for recognising me,” he said.
On his plan for Imoru-Ijebu community, he said the people should expect radical socioeconomic and physical transformation of the area.
“I’m going to work in unity with other leaders in the community, other Otunbas as well as titled chiefs to assist our traditional ruler in bringing unprecedented development to Imoru-Ijebu ,” he said.
