Sultan Declares Sunday, March 30, 2025, as Eid-el-Fitr Day

The Sultan of Sokoto and President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has declared Sunday, March 30, 2025, as Eid-el-Fitr day, marking the end of the Ramadan fast.

The announcement follows the sighting of the Shawwal moon, signaling the conclusion of the 30-day fasting period observed by Muslims worldwide.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Sultan congratulated Muslims across the country on the successful completion of Ramadan and urged them to uphold the values of piety, charity, and unity promoted during the holy month.

He also called on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, security, and economic stability in the country, emphasizing the need for religious harmony and national development.

Eid-el-Fitr, also known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” is one of the most significant celebrations in Islam, observed with prayers, feasting, and acts of charity.

Muslims across Nigeria are expected to converge at prayer grounds on Sunday morning to offer special Eid prayers and celebrate the occasion with family and loved ones.
