Nigeria’s New Immigration Policy: Stricter Bans for Visa Overstays

The Federal Government has introduced tougher immigration rules to curb visa overstays. According to Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, overstaying a Nigerian visa by three months will result in a five-year entry ban, while overstaying for one year will lead to a ten-year ban.

This policy aims to strengthen immigration control, ensure compliance with visa regulations, and discourage illegal stays. Authorities urge foreign nationals to adhere to visa expiration dates or seek proper extensions to avoid penalties.
